The Garware Institute of Career Education and Development (GICED) was founded by the University of Mumbai in 1984 through joint efforts of Padmabhushan Shri Abasaheb Garware and Prof. Ram Joshi then Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai with a vision of conducting various vocational and career oriented courses.

A) A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN AGRICULTURE OR ALLIED SUBJECTS SUCH AS AGRICULTURE ENGINEERING, FOOD TECHNOLOGY/ SCIENCE, DAIRY TECHNOLOGY/ SCIENCE, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, HORTICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FORESTRY

B) AT LEAST 3 YEARS BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT IN ANY DISCIPLINE RECOGNIZED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES /AICTE AS ELIGIBLE FOR POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME WITH MINIMUM 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT, AGRO/FOOD PROCESSING.
Written Test Followed By An Interview.
Agriculture the main stay of the Indian economy, contributes approx. 17-18% to the gross domestic product with employment and livelihood creation as high as 50%. Agriculture supplies raw material for many industrial products. It is crucial in meeting the growing demand for food and raw materials to the population and earns much needed foreign exchange. It helps in maintaining price stability. There is therefore a great demand for trained management personnel. The post graduate diploma course offers manpower required in agribusiness domain.
To develop students over a period of two years by rigorous training and education for positions in marketing of agriculture related inputs/outputs and exports, finance in banks and financial institutions, procurement of agri-produce and entrepreneurship.
To promote a qualified Agri business manpower for technology to minimize the disguised unemployment.
The graduates from this course can make their career in organizations engaged in agri business, food, agriculture and allied sectors and also in the rural economy. Opportunities would be open for careers in agricultural input companies, agro industries, food processing industries, food marketing, international agricultural trade, agricultural services, rural financial institution and voluntary organization engaged in rural development.
